xtz runs then back fires and stops

hi,i got an annoying problem,
Have cleaned out fuel tank,fuel tap,fuel pump,carburettors,

Have renewed rectifier and battery.
checked for loose wires.

bike started fine with choke on,soon as try to give little throttle she dies,so i left choke on an she ticked over ok,then started to back fire and cut out.

Any suggestions
kind regards Gary

Sounds like a dirty air filter.

hi fencer,thankyou for reply;
Ihad good look at air filter and its not very old,in near excelent condition,i also removed the cleaner and the bike still starts up on choke,soon as touch throttle she dies,alfter around half minute or so she starts to backfire then dies.
It still comes to me as a fuel starvation fault,but i cant seem seem to put it right alfter 3 times of stripping down the fuel system.
I got a feeling that it may be an electrical fault as the bike ran really good for a few miles,but 90% of backfire is caused by fuel.

any more suggestions really welcomed.
kind regards gary

back fires

It sounds to me like you have an air leak. This could be why it starts and runs when the choke is on. I would start there first. I have found over the years that these bikes seem to have this problem alot. At least hear in Ohio where I'm from.
Good luck
