XTZ 660 TENERE Starter Clutch Problem.....

I have a ,92/93 XTZ 660 that has the starter clutch slip problem - you know it - sometimes it engages, sometimes the starter just spins. After reading here i know it can be sorted but i,m having problems finding a supplier for the parts. I live in Tenerife and asking for part here gets you the Canarian equivalent of the sharp intake of breath with the head shake, so i tend to order stuff from UK.
I dont have a puller for the Generator so rather than break stuff i,m going to give it to a bike mechanic to do but i,d like to have the parts FIRST so its not sat dismantled for days. Any advice on Suppliers and tips for the job will all be gratefully recieved!!
Muchos Hairyarse, John

try here

I recently ordered my starter clutch from here honda kawasaki suzuki yamaha motorcycle parts in Holland for an 89 tenere. You can just enter the part number on the website and see if they have it. From ordering to delivery here in south america was only 5 days which was pretty amazing seeing as they didnt have the part on the shelf but had to order it in from the main yamaha parts depot somewhere in Europe. Price was cheaper than England and Christine in CMS was really helpful.
Its a really easy job to replace, any puller that roughly matches the size of the rotor will get it off (borrowed mine from a car mechanic). Drain the oil from the bike and remove the starter motor cover and crankcase cover.
I would recommend removing the starter clutch before you order the new one. ... you might find you need to order some bearings for the starter wheel, better to see whats what in there before you order. Loose starter wheel bearings could be the cause of excessive wear on starter clutch. The bearings just slide over the crankshaft - no work (xt 600).
good luck!

Thanks for the reply and the link, i have emailed two places in UK and hopefully i,ll have an answer from them soon. On the off chance i asked a bike shop here about it and Lo and Behold - Yamaha here have the parts in stock!! the bearing is 46 euros but they,ll only sell me the complete starter clutch at 251 euros! i,m waiting to see if i can buy just the rollers but if not it,ll be bite the bullet time.......
