I have an XTZ 660 and was wondering what modifications I would need to make in order for it to handle a trip into the Sahara.

Make sure that you have the new model rectifier with cooling fins. What year is your 660? Use Michelin Desert tyres if you don't want to repair them every day. Also other tyres will last only a week. Have your rear shock damper rebuilt and ask for a heat resistant seal. Get new front fork seals and 10W20 multigrade fork oil. That's all becuase they are built for the desert.
