Hi can someone tell me +- what the range are on the 2008/2009 XT660Z Tenere. I will be on a trip for 6weeks so will be fully loaded. Plus what is the options for long range tanks on this models. I heard people say to just stap a small jerry can to the bike, but how does one go about to connect it to the fuel supply?:confused1:

Riding at a steady pace you can achieve 300+ miles. The extra fuel is simply poured into the tank, an old water bottle makes a great funnel. Andy B

Thanks Andy. I thought maybe there is a way to connect the jerry can straight to the carb with means of a petrol pump, so that you can flick a switch to alter between the two tanks in mid ride.

300 + miles is possible at a steady pace, but you need to understand what a steady pace is. Keeping the bike around 5K revs will deliver this, if you start to go above this then you'll drop your MPG down considerabley.

Constant high speed riding, with luggage can get you as little as 200 miles.

No carbs on this bike, it's injected.

I presume you have the updated air filter for SA ? there was a recall.

Hi agian, i should have mentioned that when filling the tank you can sqeeze in another 1-2 litres more than you first think just by taking your time.
reserve light usually comes on at 250 miles but you still have over 6 litres in the reserve. As Gasup said a heavier right wrist will reduce these figures significantly. i did over 12k miles on mine with no problems , enjoy your trip. Andy B
