Hi all, i am about at the end of my tether and about to kick things. I had problems with the charging on my original stator on my xt600z Tenere - no other issues with performance of bike just charging. Tested white wires and all were kicking out reasonable volts bar one. Being really clever I thought I would just replace the stator rather than pay to have it inspected and rewound etc. I put a different second hand stator in first and no spark. Sent it back and put a different one in. No spark. Supposedly they were both from 1vj models. the same as mine. They both have different codes on the stator itself and both differ from my own (1gx) although all connector blocks are the same as mine. In each case I have gone through the connections with a fine toothed comb and I can't spot any issues. The only time I have got a spark in both cases was with the starter button pressed. It is costing me a fortune in postage and I still am no better off.
Am I barking up the right tree with thinking I need a stator coded 1gx only? If so, is it better to get my old stator fixed or to buy new. PLEASE HELP. I used to love my XT but I seem to be wasting so much time taking it a part for no good reason. |

I am similarly in a no spark situation with my IVJ.
I tested the stator source coils ( the large ones ) and found open resitance The source coil resistance is supposed to be 160 - 240ohm on the brown to red wires. Mine reads open circuit. I have recently ordered the electrex manufacturered replacement stator for the IVJ from wemoto Generator Alternator Yamaha and await its arrival. Does your original stator still produce a spark ? what are the resistance readings on the source coils of your various stators ? |
