Xt600e Windscrean

Hi folks
I've just bought a 2003 X600E and wand to fit a dakar style screan to it but I cant find one anywhere, any help would be great. just another question is it possible to fit a XTZ 600 fairing, tank and front mud gaurd to this bike as I would consider doing this in the future especially the mud gaurd to protect the exhauxt pipes.
Thanks and best wishes
Mike

I assume you're referring to the 3AJ type twin lamp fairing, tank and low level guard, like the bike on the right here. I think it could be made to fit a later bike, but with significant additional brackets requiring welding on to carry both tank and fairing. You'd need to fit the seat too, in order to get the interface right...and the side panels and tail piece would then be wrong! Also there would be a wasted void under the tank where the 1VJ/3AJ air box lives. Basically it would be a right pain, and look terrible! Oh, and good bits like tanks are getting pretty hard to find these days.

If that's the look you really want, why not chop in your 600E for a complete 3AJ? Difficult to find a good one, but worth looking for. It the engine is clapped, yours will drop in.

Or you could consider using the readily available big Acerbis tank for the XT 600E and a higher aftermarket fairing - the one fitted to the XL Honda in the pic cost about 40 quid and bolted on easily around a standard rectangular headlight.

Me? I still think the standard 1VJ - on the left - is where it's at!

Thanks Guzzibob, it sounds like a lot for hard work for a twin lamp set up and expensive, I don't want to get rid of her as she's a mint bike with a genuine 2500mls on the clock from new, so I think I'll go with a dakar style screen to help the wind blast. I just need to find one now.
Thanks
Mike

MRA screens

I've fitted an MRA Roadshield to my '03 XT.
It does a great job of keeping the wind off my body though the wind does hit at about helmet height.
A compromise but I dont like a great big screen. At 12" its just about right so that I can stand on the rough stuff without it getting in the way. They do do others though, maybe worth a look. I can recommend them.
I am not connected to the company in any way, just a satisfied customer.
Heres their catalogue:

Thanks for all your help folks, I've managed to track a screen down, it's just the thing availible from Bullser in France through TROPHY UK LTD .

I've fitted a screen from a xtz660, doesnt look to bad, and takes wind and rain of my chest. I take it on/off from time to time, depending on what kind of riding I'll d.

Here it is:

Thanks Jens, I have that style fitted all ready but I must be too tall for it and I'm spoilt with the one on my Africa Twin. Nice bit of parking! I
hope the tide is not coming in.

Jens Eskildsen 7 Dec 2011 19:19

Im 2 meters tall, it suits me fine, then wind goes just over my shoulders, different strokes for different folks, ehh? :)

I know theres also a taller version, i think its 5-7cm taller, perhaps that would suit you better?

I think you'll have a hard time, making something on the cheap, that slightly resembles to youre AT :(

But please share youre results, its always nice to see what people come up with. For 700ish (as i recall it) euro, www.off-the-road.de offers a rallyfairing for our bikes.

Ive always used John at Eagle Screens, he`s been making & exporting for 31yrs now & his products are very good.

He does one for your bike, in three sizes and any tint you care to choose from,
here`s one on my 3AJ (tallest with wings).

He made one for my Ducati as well a couple of years before the Tenere.

Wonder who`s bike this is?

But from that shot you can see how much visibility there is looking through, both screens are the same tint.

Mezo.
