XT600e suspension

hi all
i'm thinking about getting my xt600e (2000 or 2001 model) back into shape after a long and hard cape to cairo last year.
i had the original suspension on the bike when i left. after the 20k kilometers in africa, the suspension (front & back) is really soggy (50k kilometers on the bike now). anybody got some suggestions regarding upgrading my suspension. go standard yamaha parts again or upgrade with WP or Ohlins springs in front & shock & spring on the back?

xt suspension

Hi, I would strip the front re seal it ( very cheap..a few O rings, some oil), measure the free length of the fork springs and compare with original replace with new if there is any difference. The rear be very careful !!! I have heard tales of after market expensive shocks not lasting very long, your standard one has lasted 50,000 km, an after market at maybe twice the price would have to last twice as long. If you do go for an after market buy a rebuildable type..but how you re gas your damper in Africa..???? Nitrogen at 5 bar ???? I favour buying a low milage low age yam part for low money off E bay...throw it away when its knackered. Just my view you understand...

have fun Jimmy
