XT600e gearbox problem
 

I have a very strange problem with my xt600e gearbox. I have the engine running fine and I can select any gear without pulling the clutch lever, the engine does not stall as I select the gears. Minutes to this problem occuring I had trouble sellecting neutral and I had the clutch lever depressed for a minute or 2.

Please could someone help me with this problem

ride it, I mean, does it pull away as usual?
If not, there's something with your clutch: worn, sticking in disengaged position.

So, check the lever outside the crankcase: returns to engaged position?
If yes, and still problem, then you have to look inside: worn plates, something wrong with the rest.

I have been thinking about this problem all night, I think the fault is that the clutch is sticking in the dis-enguaged position. I started it up this morning not in Neutral and without the clutch lever de-pressed. So I think the clutch is sticking somewhere internally. I have just dropped it off to my local mechanic and I have just told him your suggestions.
