XT600E fork gaitors

Been lurking on your forum for a year now and learnt quite a few things about the XT.

Todays question is where can I buy gaitors. I put a pair on and after a year they have faded and are now splitting. I read that the genuine Yamaha one are outrageously expensive but I don't want to be dropping the forks once a year.
What do you people recommend?

Regards

Hi you can get them from ebay or m&p just a pattern set that may last a year or two for £20 better with the black ones or spend £££££ for yamaha ones and last double that ...

cheers

Dave

Well whatever you do don`t buy them off this ebay seller, rpmagiccat

Myself & G30ff got some from this clown & they fell to pieces before a wheel was even turned, honestly & he refused us both a refund or replacement. *ker.

Also ive heard Pyramid ones are shizenhouse as well.

I dont know whether its easy to get gaiters for an XT600 but I couldnt find any at all for my TTR600RE but I found and fitted some neoprene ones and I'm quite happy with the result. see pic.

Thes are the ones that I fitted in the top photo. They are rubber and have lasted under a year before starting to fall apart. Faded badly in a few months and have now split

Pity, they looked like they were going to last.

Gaitors have gone out of fashion over the last few years which is a pity because they are so damn effective. They prevent pitted forks.

I also like extended front mud guards - they stop muck from being flung up on the engine.

Remember the old MZ's with their rubber enclosed chain? It never looked very good but wow did it protect the chain! It was a superb idea that was never taken up by the Japs...

Those were the days.... aaahhhh.:thumbup1:

These days it's all about being minimal.

Very Nice looking early XT6E Min. Nice examples like this are getting pretty rare. Stop lurking and join the XT6 club. You know it makes sense....
