XT600E (1999) - Oil Temp Gauge

Just ordered one of these for my beloved XT6E -

MOTO-DETAIL Motorcycle Oil Temperature Gauge

The site confirms that the XT6E can be fitted with model 1.

Just remembered the flippin Oil Filler Cap is located beneath that plastic cowling at the rear of the tank!

Have I messed up or will this thing be of some (limited) use?

If it's no good I will use it on my XBR500 instead.

It'll fit, I had one(from KEDO) on my XT600E '03. With or without cowling, I got rit of it for a better view on the gauge and better acces for checking the oil. Greetz, Hans.

Did you mean front of the tank? I took the plastic shroud off when I was doing a lot of oil-checking and haven't bothered putting it back. The side-pieces were pretty tatty too, so those went as well. I think an oil temp gauge would look pretty good there.

Yes you're right the FRONT of the tank and it's a plastic shroud thingy which covers the dipstick not a cowling.

I guess I may get rid of the shroud altogether to allow a clearer view of the oil temperature gauge (once it's fitted).

So the general consensus is that it may in fact be of some use. Glad to hear that I haven't totally wasted £30.

Thanks for your valued advice here guys.
