XT600 Z TENERE decompression assembly !
hi guys ,
i am in the process of converting my 1988 XT600 Z tenere from electric start to kick start , got everything else in order , except the DECOMPRESSION ASSEMBLY !  can someone please tell me where i purchase the complete assembly ? or if anyone has a spare or available for sale , that would be really nice ! please help

I know a few importers from the USA: Yamaha Parts and Accessories - 20% Discount on Yamaha OEM Parts, 10% Discount on Aftermarket Parts Yamaha of Troy Boats.net - Outboard Boats, Outboard Motors, Outboard Parts. Yamaha, Honda, Mercury Marine, Evinrude and Johnson. Lowest price OEM Yamaha Outboards. (yes the boats website also has motorcycle parts lol)
by the way, do you have the kickstart idle gear? when I was first going to assemble the parts I learned (the hard way) that I was missing one part, the kickstart idle gear.. One thing, in my opinion the automatic decompresser is a waste of money while you can have a manual decompresser(which is what I've put on my 1990 XT600E  Have fun. Vando

thanks for the reply vando , yup , i arranged for the idle gear , pretty similar to your situation though ... learnt it the HARD way  so , where and how can i get this manual decompresser ? cause i am not too particular on the automatic one whichever is cheaper / easier to get  edit : i am from INDIA , so online buying is my only option !

Hi,
Looking at the US Bike Bandit site ('89 XT600W model) they appear to quote prices for all the parts needed. Unfortunately they use their own internal part numbers. The inference is that the parts are still available from Yamaha through their dealer network. Fyi, I managed to get most of the parts from a 1VJ model which was being broken. The pieces I was missing were indeed readily available from my local Yamaha dealer. If you use the automatic decompression mechanism, the cable casing ends are too thick to fit in between the 3AJ clutch and starter casings, but a late kickstart TT600 decompression cable is much thinner and fits fine. On the websites I posted above they have the Yamaha OEM part numbers... by the way, I just bought myself a ASV C5 brake and a ASV C5 clutch with hotstart and perch both silver.....
Now I'll just use the hotstart for the decompresser hehe xD Anyway, I've bought a 2002 YZ250 front end to fit on my 1990 XT600E. You can also get an E-Z clutch with hotstart off ebay for less than 40USD for the looks on your XT or just get an used WR clutch that has the decompresser mechanism or just grab the smallest bicycle left lever which was what I was going to do at first.. Still waiting to know what parts you have.. Take care. Vando
