Is the petrol old or fresh?

zigzag 20 Jan 2012 22:40

hi there as oothef says if the petrol is old its a no go situation, go get a gallon of fresh fuel and take it from there , good luck zigzag

When you say "different plugs" old ones or brand new ones?

With the plug out touching ground are you getting a decent spark?

Mezo.

As it started, albeit for only a short time, when you introduced petrol directly, I would look at fuelling. As has already been suggested, try fresh fuel to begin with and then check carb for blockages etc.

Good luck.

if you've had the carb off to clean its going to take a while for fuel to get through to the engine
make sure you have a fully charged battery, turn it over on the electric starter with no choke or throttle whilst squirting Easy start into the air intake
my 3yf would take forever to fire it it was left un-run for more than a week, and the above would have it going in no time

Hi if the fresh fuel doesn't work ,try a new plug if you leve the old plug in the cylinder and test the new one. This because some times a plug will spark when out of the cylinder but not when fitted due to slower cranking speeds.Check and clean all connection's on cdi, coils, switch ect had a similar fault on my klr turned out to this

Fern 21 Jan 2012 23:09

have you tried overriding the sidestand and clutch switches if the bike has them?

chucky55 22 Jan 2012 20:47

Check Carb rubbers

Check your carby rubbers, spray a little petrol on the carb rubbers when trying to start, this will show up any de-lamination of the rubber.

Make sure you have a FIRE extinguisher just in case.:biggrin3:
