XT600 front rotor and clutch plate material

Hi there,

Is there anyone out there who could tell me what the exact material is that is used to manufacture the XT600 front rotor and steel clutch plates? My brother in law has the right laser cutting equipment to cut me a new rotor and plates but he will need to know what material to use.

If I can have them cut it will save me a considerable amount of money on new spares.

Thanks.

I also thought of skimming the front rotor rather than making a new one. Any suggestions on how to do that?

It seems that most engineering companies here in SA can only skim car discs/rotors. Thought of making a plate to mount on a dril and then skim the disc while it is rotating on the dril using a fine sanding paper. Risky, but getting desparate as front rotors are really expensive.

Front rotor = front brake disc?

If so, you can get'em cheap on ebay, same with the clutch plates (not totally sure abuot the metal discs for the clutch, but I would assume that they're cheap and availible aswell)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try ebay, hopefully they can deliver to SA.
