xt600 cylinder

does any one know the correct cylinder clearance for a 1990 xt600, Ive rebored mine but still have a piston type noise, my cylinder has .003" clearance

.003 sounds a bit lagre for a fresh bore , manual shows .0018" to .0026" for 83-85 models. I belive this engine has the same top end as your 1990 bike.

hi hows it going? why did you get the cyclinder bored out in the first place? if it was because your cyclinder was scratched, like mine was then it means something in your engine has broken and dragged metal filings into your cylinder through the oil. if you didnt find the part that was broken and have put it back together then chances are you'v scratched it again. i'm in the middle of re-building my engine and have had mine bored by half a mil. i totaly stripped mine and took everything out including the gears and found my gears had worn and chipped away which dragged filings through the oil pump, the result... new gears, oil pump, re-bore, and piston. still felling sick now.
If you know where i can get a second hand set of gears and oil pump from for an 89 tenere, or any xt realy as there mostly the same, then drop me a line, any help would be great.
hope this helps.
