Cool Xt600

Hi Guys I got a 94 XT 600 e that was ridden from Germany to South Africa. Does anybody have a workshop manual? It is sounding a bit rough and noisy and I want to set inlet and outlet manifolds (tappits) - can anybody tell me the settings?

Also, Do I have to take out engine to change timing chain or can I leave it in and still change the chains?

A workshop manual would be great...

I haven't changed a timing chain, but the cylinder head can be removed with the engine in the frame, so I would think so.

The tappet settings are:

inlet 0.05 to 0.10 mm (2 to 4 thou)
exhaust 0.12 to 0.17 mm (5 to 7 thou).

Engine at TDC on compression stroke, cold.

You can get a 1990 version off my website - Moto Andalucía

It can take a while to download as it's a big file.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
