xt600 3aj buyers checklist
Hi people,
Next Monday i'm test driving a 1989 xt600 3aj tenere. It sounds like an ok deal, so might be interested in buying it. Is there a xt600/3aj specific buyers checklist? Are there any specific things i should be looking out for? Appreciate the help Paul

Check for a dent in the bottom side of the exhaust above the brake calliper. If there is you may find the shock to be clapped out. Either way there is to much travel in the shock cause the exhaust can hit and break the calliper bracket when it bottoms out. It NEEDS a protective bracket to take the hit. Other than that, just the usual checks.

There`s nothing specific to look for on the 3AJ`s, just do your normal obvious checks you would on any bike, knocking engine, smoking ect ect.
I suppose if there was one thing to check it would be a whine in the gearbox which would mean splitting the engine to fix. Make sure your numbers all match up (frame & engine). Enjoy.  Mezo.
