Cape Town XT club et al

Hi Wingnut and all.

Excellent idea on the XT club. I'm based in Botswana. There's a couple of XT600 s around. Lots of XT350, as the local police and even military used them. They're now starting to come into the market from auction.

Keep us posted.

Hey stonerace, here in Botswana the learners license is a formality - if you already have another drivers license. (Fill in form, pay approx ZAR40, and you get a learners valid for 6 moths). Unfortunately you have to be a Botswana resident as far as I know.

Rgds from Botswana

Hi Guys,
I have recently purchased a KTM DukeII and would be very interested to hear about an XT club in Cape Town. My mate has got the XT660X and we are always looking to ride. Please keep us posted.

Great to see it all coming together!

At some stage i will need to get your guys contact details (especially
) the locals so that we can start going on out rides etc.

Are those botswana xt350's costly? i know parameds chick is looking for one.
How does one go about purchasing them? who does one contact etc.

For all those interested i am busy building up a data base on xt specialists, in and around Cape Town and South Africa!

So hang in there guys there will be plenty of info for us xt junkies in S.A.

Well gotta run chat again soon.

Chris

Hi,

Is quite a process - you need to be a local to be able to go to auctions, usually they are quite knackered, but once in a while you get a good one.

The other pain is re-registering them in SA.

But I'll keep a lookout for them when the come up for auction

Rgds

Regarding your riding test.

Good news!!

If you want to speed thing up a little then you shoud visit one of the small towns in the country side, the ones we call "dorpies" usually the waiting list there is very short and you can sometimes do them on the day. It just envolves a trip to the country side and that is neve a bad thing , specially on an xt......and you needed an excuse!!

Try to get relatives or friens here to get a booking fo you that will speed things up alot, otherwise let me know and we will see what we can from this side to help you out.

Cheers

Chris

Hey Chris - haven't logged on for a while.
I live in Hout Bay - Cell No. 082 443 4580 - definately on for a so please give me a call.
I have had quite a 'learning experience' rebuilding a 34L but all good so far. I have too much play in the lower connecting rod of the swing arm. I have just spent the last couple of hours stripping it all down in an effort to replace the sleeve bushes only to find the bold is seized in place. I should have it done in a day or two ( I hope) and will be ready to ride. Very keen for a trip out of town - Cederberg !

Have you ever got anything out of Kim in Muizenberg ??! ha ha ha
