XT 600e UK Spec Headlight

Greetings, I'm a HUBB virgin so please be gentle with me... I need to replace the headlight on my XT600e (4PTB)... I've checked around a few dealers and was disappointed to find that a new Yamaha light assembly is 175 quid. They rarely seem to come up 2nd hand on eBay, and the few I've seen so far are in _really_ terrible condition... So my first ever HUBB question is... (cue fanfare) Does anyone have any advice on other sources where I might find a 2nd hand (UK spec) XT600e 4PTB headlight lens assembly in reasonable condition for a reasonable price, or do I just have to sit it out on eBay ? One other question - I've seen other headlights on ebay for other models of XT600e but not sure if they fit my bike - the parts manual says I need a 3TB part number, so in searching ebay etc I'm assuming that I can't get one off earlier than a 3TB variant to fit my bike... Any one know if there are earlier variants of Xt600 who's light would fit my bike ? Cheers, Andy

yes the 3tb and 4tp are interchangable and you can go back as far as an 87 bike too
i got rid of the yam light assy and fitted an accerbis light unit they do a light with a side light in it too and it does pass the uk mot test

Hey there Wolfzero,
I know some of the Acerbis lights are suitable for road and others are not.... which model did you end up going for and were you happy? My Tenere project bike doesn't have a light assembly at all and I am tossing up an Acerbis job instead.

Was also wondering how you found the mounting arrangements of these units as they seem to mount onto the forks with rubber mounts. Do you find this a little cumbersome?

the one i used is the Acerbis CE/DOT Certified DHH Headlight and i fitted it by making up my own brackets as the rubber mounts would not fit the USD forks i now have fitted on my bike

Hi, Thanks for the replies. Checked out acerbis, but I'm not really looking to change the appearance of the bike, so really need to source that genuine yamaha light assy or equivalent.... Cheers, Andy

Hi Bacardi, just the light itself. the acerbis ones look like they come with the whole lot & not sure that you could just replace the light assy with an acerbis one... Andy

the accerbis light is a complete assy and the light unit will not fit the oe cowl/mounting

that accerbis one i used does not look much different to the yam set up plus its a lot lighter than the steel frame used in the original one
