xt 600 heart transplant

I have a 1986 xt600 and a 1992 xt600ee does anyone know how to put the 1992 motor into the 86 frame, if it is possible or where I can get a larger tank for the 1992? thanks in advance

Mezo 28 Feb 2012 07:02

Yes it can be done, search this forum & you will find talk about it.

Don't you mean a bigger tank for the 86? what model do you have? obviously not a 1VJ if you needing a bigger tank right?

Mezo.

Thanks Mezo,I believe the 86 is a 1VJ that why I'm thinking of putting the 92 engine in it I just can't seem to find a bigger tank to fit the 92 because of the oil filler cap.
Would it be easier to transfer fuel tanks and add a custom oil bottle to the '92?

Im confused here, its not hard though.

What bike do you wan to run here? the 1VJ? or the 600E?

An acerbis tank will fit the 600E & the 600E engine will fit in the 1VJ.

Mezo.

I guess its because he wants a bigger gastank, and they can be hard to find for a 90-95 xt600e.

He`s Aussie & the army here used 600E`s fitted with Acerbis tanks, so there will be some around, there`s one of these sat right next to me (not mine).

Boxes? i wondered what you was on about then. :confused1:

They are the blackout lights, you don't want to be riding your XT in time of war with a huge headlight giving the enemy your location.

It points a lower wattage beam of light down to the front wheel so you can still see obstacles. They come from the auctions here like that, no ignition key or anything just a switch to turn the bike on/off.

Most guys pull all the army wiring out & replace it with standard XT wiring (with ignition switch/key).

About the XT 600e.

Hi mate, I have three of these ex Army bikes in Townsville and I am preparing them for a ride from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Could I get in contact with you as I have lots of questions about these bikes and I'm new to this make and model.
