XT 600 decompresser valve SPRING help
Hi all.. I've been looking around my 1990 XT600E that I've fitted a kickstart and I don't understand where the decompresser valve spring locks on to...it locks on the decompresser valve but where else does it lock to stay fixed (where exactly on the cylinder head) ?

decompressor? kickstart? not on my XT600E
i read here on HUBB somewhere that fitting a kickstart to a XT600E is very difficult

Haha... It's very easy to fit the kickstart. I fitted mine a few months ago and it was very easy if you have the right set of tools
 I'm fitting a "manual" decompresser not the automatic! The only thing is that I have all the decompresser parts I need: decompresser valve + spring + oil seal + little screw that holds the decomp. valve and the decompresser cable bracket (the one that holds the cable in place) but still haven't put the decompresser valve because I don't want to get stranded as I'm just not seeing where the spring will hold  Vando

Hi.
The spring for the decompvalve just rests on the valve cover. It has one "hooked" end that goes around the lever, and one straight and that rests on the cover, there is a flat surfice between where the decomp shaft goes inn and the bolt holding the outlet cam shaft.You just turn the spring to get some tension on it and it will lock it self in to the right position.

Also fit a kick starter bike right hand footpeg....or weld a stop to your peg.Otherwise you'll kick a nice hole in the clutch cover.

Hi there.. Well, I don't have the "normal" XT600 kickstart lever. I do have a XS750 kickstart lever (with the matching boss hub) that is fully compatible with the XT600 kickstart shaft... Also, I've positioned it in a way that it can't touch the clutch cover while going down or coming back up again.
One thing, the XS750 kickstart lever that I have is "chrome" and has a rubber on the end... I'll post a picture later this afternoon Vando
