work begins xt660 96 3yf tips needed

Hi all newbe here!

So im giving the new bike the once over and need some advice on sorting a few things...

fork oil change with no drain plug!!!!!! does this mean i have to take the forks off??

also the rubber is broken on the brake piston on the rear...shall i just replace this or is it easy to fit all components in a rebuild kit while i have it off?

braded hoses?? worth the dosh??

sintered pads a waste of money??

im 6'4 and like em high. if i wind the rear shock up what effect will this have on handling??

i appreciate that this is a bit off a wanting email but i promise to add lots of good stuff once the bike is up together!!!:thumbup1:

going to get this old lump sorted for a barcelona and pyrinees trip...:thumbup1:

your help is invaluable regards and seasons greetings........

Hi, I'm in North Dorset - so not far!

Fork oil - forks off & pour out. Braided hoses - worth doing with a bike that age.

Winding the shox up won't upset it too much.

Good luck
