I wouldn't pay much over a grand - it would have to be really good.

The time of year is a factor too - it's a buyers market in Autumn/Winter

I agree, £1000 is about top line, maybe a touch more if it's in concourse condition.

Yeah, yeah yeah, of course he will, that's why he's still trying to sell it....(!)

I'd hold at £1000, cash, now. It's not a rare bike, they come up for sale regularly, and as Tenere Tom said, the prices are starting to drop now, as we head off season. I'd say that he's asking a spring price, not an autumn one.

What's been done under this full service history? As well as including recent oil and filter, air filter, valve clearances, new plug, new brake fluid, new brake pads, new fork fluid, 12 months tax and test, new chain & sprockets, new tyres (that suit you, for the use you want), given the age and mileage, you've also got to think about the rear suspension, bushes, head bearings, wheel bearings, has it got a stainless exhaust, does it have the accessories you want - long range tank, rear rack, front mudguard extension, centre stand and so on. If there is no way you'll spend anything on it for 12 months, then it might be worth it, if you will have to spend more on it, knock it off the asking price.

And remember an asking price is only ever a wish.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
