I have a spare disused carb off a XT600. Have no idea if it will fit or if suitable.

Hi Craig

Sorry, just came back online and saw the pm. (pm notification here is a bit hidden I find, still my fault)

This is the carb. Been in the bottom of a spares box for a good few years but was in working order last time it was used. No identifying marks but I believe it is off a XT600E but should be capable of being made to fit any XT600 pre 1989 unless someone here can rectify me.

Agg they are the easiest things to clean. Take all the brass jets and rubber gaskets out and put in a pot of simmering water with a cube of automatic dishwashing powder. Leave in for no more than 5 minutes and rince thoroughly. Brings the aluminium alloy back to showroom condition. (little trick I learned from my RC aeroplane hobby) Dremel wire brush the sec. carb tin head and spray on a clear coat of laquer. Job done in under 20 minutes. Sell as new. I cant be arsed, if I'm giving it away, I'm not a complete

I know a guy who cleaned two Rover V8 cylinder heads in his dishwasher. It worked really well, although he was not popular for quite a while.

I reckon dishwasher powder would work just as well as any other.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
