Valve adjustment TT600R

Hi there, when doing a valve adjustment on a TT600R, do you do the adjustment with the decompression cable in place or not?

I'm asking because an engine overheat resulted with a clicking sound from the top of the engine, like badly adjusted valves. But after a Thai workshop did a valve adjustment (adjustment was needed indeed), the clicking did not go away. In fact I think it became worse.

Any thoughts on this?

Yes, you leave it in place then adjust it afterwards. The inlet valves should be 0.05 to 0.10mm when cold and the exhaust 0.12 to 0.17 mm. The decompression cable should be adjusted so that there is approx 0.5 mm of free play on the lever before it starts to lift the valve.
