Using Motul Transoil in my XT

Hi there,

I accidentally bought a bottle of Motul Transoil 10w40 and was wondering if I could use it in my '84 XT600 as the current oil I have in the bike is Motul 5100 10w40. Is there a difference between the two oils because as far as I can see they are almost exactly the same thing except for the bottle the oil comes in.

No, the Motul Transoil is a gear box 2 strokes oil. Isn’t prepare to work on a 4T engine with combustion and to lubricate piston rings and main crankshafts bearings or camshafts that works directly on the head as in your XT, I would only use if I don’t have other choice and because repair the engine will be much more expensive than buy other bottle…

Any oil is better than no oil, but yes, if you can get your hands on the correct oil, or something more similar to it, then do so.
