Tyres

Hello,

Can someone tell me the dimensions of inner tubes for xt 600 1991 3ux. I am thinking of changing my old tyres 130/80 17'' and 90/90 21'' for 120/80 17'' ( front will be same). Is it ok. Thank you.

tubes are normally the same size as the tires...

You can't just put a 120/80-17 on the front, you have to change the rim size too and that's a big deal.

If the factory tire size is a 130/80-17 why go to a 120?

WHY are you wanting to change the tires sizes?

WHAT's the purpose?

Smile Inner Tubes

Hi

I'd definitely go for h/d tubes - they can be a bit of a pain to fit but will stay puncture free much longer. I use the michelin MX/Enduro ones and they must be nearly 2mm thick... no puncture for 2 years!

Cheers Bish

Why H/D when you can Ultra-H/D!!!

I used Continental's Ultra-Heavy Duty tubes to ride from Vietnam to the UK and had 1 puncture.........
Thet are rather good in my experience. The ones i got were for 18" wheel for the rear and was suitable for 110 to 140, i think. I know they do ones for supermoto for 17" wheels(up to 165?), so i reckon you'll want the next size down.

Smile H/D Tubes

I'm not sure the exact spec of these tubes - they are freely available in the UK and at the time I bought them with tyres. I know that http://www.racespec.co.uk list them in 17" and 21" - perhaps you could email and request the exact tyre sizes that they will fit.

If you're changing the tyre size from 130 to 120, then use the same tube. If you look on the tube (usually by the valve) you will see printed on the tube the size of tyre to use with it. Tubes, by their very nature of expanding, will always fit more than one size of tyre.

Baldrick is right, essentially it really doesn't matter what size tube you use, rubber is made to stretch and fill out what ever space it has. That is why enduro riders only cary a spare 21" tube, since they can shoved it in a 18 or 17 inch tyre and it will inflate well enough to get them home, without haveing to ride on your rims.

I remember once when i was too poor to get a good rear tyre i just bought a 100 wide tyre and used the tube from the 130, no flats in the 18mths that it took to wear out that tyre and the next one after that.
