Tunisian Chott Rally on 1VJ ,XT350 & TT

Just back from Tunisian rally
Who says you have to have the latest KTM to d
o a desert rally????
Amongst the field were a 1VJ, an early Belgarda TT600 and our Matt on his totally standard XT350 (1st in class)
Believe it or not I also came third in my class in my extra long wheelbase 130 Landrover loaded to the hilt with all the bike support gear.
Next Rally in March in Morocco if anyone is interested.
David.

Modern Bikes!!!

Two 1vjs 1000km of piste already completed.
Pretty well loaded with all our kit including camping gear!

Up to 100 km ph on piste with 14 year old bikes, engines sweet as nuts!!

I dont know about competetive rallying but I know a well built bike!

Thanks Dave and Matt the pistes are outragous!!!!!!

Have a good christmas and new year all you adventure bikers!

If there is one thing about building rally and overland bikes that beats everything else, its getting messages like that from customers and friends. Good luck Dave & Jasper.
The one thing I keep remembering about the rally is Mascots mate jumping out of the back of the Landrover, sweating like a pig after 10 km of jumping dune fences.......
Q. "whats it like in there then?"
A. "its f***ing shocking..."
He spent the rest of the stage on the roof finding us routes through the dunes.
Are you both in UK yet??

We're both in Asilah, a snippet from the port of Tangiers. Bikes still excellent although my bike (now nicknamed The Ram thanks to a Mascot I picked up in Spain) likes to pick up punctures but 'tis my fault for putting standard tubes...

After tanking around the pistes down South and flying over dunes, my rear shock is now completely knackered and gives a fine ride that combines feeling every bump and the experience of a bouncy castle!!! Any recommendations for an after market replacement?
