TTR600 electrics in the rain

Morning all - I've not posted on this forum before.
I have a 2005 TTR 600 (electric start) that is suffering in the rain. It cuts out under idle or low RPM and tends to restart a few hours later without any problems. I'm suspicious of all the kill switches linked to the bike - clutch, side stand etc and I think the problem lies with one of these.

I have tried changing the plug and making sure the cap is well connected to the HT lead but I doubt these are the problem because the cut-out only ever happens in the rain and these components are dry and warm.

I'd be grateful for any pointers.

I have a 04 TT600RE

You might want to look behind the headlight shroud, thats where all the electrics seem to come together.

I have recently stripped my bike down, all connectors cleaned and silicon greased to prevent water ingress.

Well the root of my what I thought were starter relay faults were in the connectors behind the headlight shroud and after cleaning all connectors on the bike and packing with petroleum jelly the once slightly troublesome electrics on this bike have been fine.

uhhmmmmm..

Does it only happen in rainy days??

If not, it sounds more like your HT IGNITION COIL is at fault...

Thanks for the replies - much appreciated.

The fault has only happened after and during heavy rain and the bike has cut out at the same corner which is 1.5 miles from home twice now. To be clear, this is after a couple of hours of the bike standing in the rain and then being ridden in the rain. It starts with difficulty under these conditions from cold but does start. Once it cuts out at that cormer 1.5 miles from home, it won't fire up. The starter turns fine and fuel is going through OK - you can smell that. Once left to dry for a few hours it fires up as normal.The problem has never happened on a dry day.

I'm going to dig around in the shroud behind the headlight as recommended (thanks!) but I'm still suspicious of the cut-out switches on the clutch and the side stand - esp the stand because that is really in amongst the spray.

Hi
when my TTR had a mifire while raining it was the HT lead shorting out on the cylinder head.
I used a cable tie to keep the lead of the head I also use a plug cap that is the same as used on jet skis as I assume would be more water proof.
I would spray the electrics with wd40 or something simlar.
