TTR 600 engine

Hi
After the chain snapped on my TTR it put a hole in the engine crankcase and crankcase cover im not sure if it can be welded so does any one have a 97/98 TTR 600 Belgrada engine kicksart only they would sell even a blown engine as long as engine casings are ok.
As my bike is kickstart only I dont have a battery so wont be able to fit e/start motor with out problems also I think TTR engines are narrower then the XT engine can someone confirm this.

The TT600R engine is narrower than the XT600 and TT600RE engine due to in part, a smaller output alternator. thus the left(chain) side casings are different. Have you priced up new casings? I have often been pleasantly suprised at the price of parts for my 2001 TT600R. Depends how long you intend to keep it for I suppose. Good luck!

Hi
As you say the TTR kickstart engine is narrower because the left casing is smaller because flywheel is smaller (I think)
So I am thinking I can rebuild my TTR engine using XT casings but I still need a left side crankcase cover of a kickstart TTR600 or did they make an xt 600 with kickstart only if so has this got a narrower left casing cover.
Any suggestions or left crankcase covers or experince of doing this
Thanks
