Hi,my tyres are nearly warn out so time to replace them. Yamaha book says rear should be Pirelli (MT70) or Michelin (T63) 130/80-18. I've been told by local dealers they can not get MT70s I would prefer a more road biased tyre any way so would it be ok to fit smaller Avon Gripster 120/80-18?

Smaller size tyre, 120/80, is no problem. But why not stick to the T63: good on dry and wet tarmac, and knobbly?

Thanks for confirming tyre size is okay. I only use bike on road due to a disabilty, the weight & riding position suits me better than Triumphs etc I used to ride.
