tt600re

Hi Looking for some advice. Have 04 tt600re elec start. The two headlight bulbs blew one by one and then the main fuse leaving me stranded. Replaced all and bike went fine but now the bulb gone again 3000km later. Cant find any damaged wires, it could be the voltage regulator. Should i get a standard replacement or is there a better one. The splines that drive the speedo at the front wheel hub are plastic and wear out after 9000km . Is there a better replacement part. What do the RTW guys do.

Check your regulator before you buy a new one !!

Have you got a multimetre ???

It doesn't sound like the regulator if you're replacement bulb lasted 3000ks. Maybe you were just unlucky with the bulbs, I've been through a couple of headlight bulbs in 20,000 kms. I'd definitely check your reg before replacing it.
Not had any problems with the speedo, are you sure it's a common fault not one user having a problem and assuming that they all do that?

Check the voltage at the bulb housing while reving the engine. It should be 12.5 volts or lower. Maybe about 9-10v with voltage drop.

The voltage reading is 13.13 at the headlight.

Thats ok ! What about when you rev the engine ?? Have you got the manual. It should tell you the regulated voltage range.

You measure it at the battery then you expect a small drop by the time it gets to the lights.

When i rev the engine hard it goes up to 13.5 and then settles at 13.13 volts. The manual says standard output 14v 13.5A at 5000 r/min. Does this mean once it does not go over 14v it is working ok. Ill just keep the bulbs replaced.

Yup.. Regulator seems to be working fine.

The bulbs blowing could be something as simple as poor contact in the bulb holder, moisture etc.
