Triple clamps for 1990 XT600E?

Hi. Does anyone know what it takes to put some new triple clamps on a Yamaha 1990 XT600E. What I'm asking is, what measure/sizes do the clamps need to have, are they the same as some MX bikes or something? I'd prefer to keep the stock front forks tho... I want to change at least the top triple clamp

Any info would be great :cool4:

Safe riding! :scooter:

isze of holes distance between holes offset I would not imagine the XT triple clamps would be the same as any MX bike.

I presume your looking at putting some diffrent bars on the bike like fat bars or something why not just put a set of adaptors on instead of trying to change the triple clamps.

Hi. I know I can buy the handlebar mounts for a fat bat but I do want to get the top triple clamp (the part that holds the front forks) for a better looking one than the one on the XT600E. :) I'd like to know if there are any top triple clamp that would fit on my stock front forks.. The size of the holes for the front forks is what I do have to know and also, the distance between the holes... including the middle hole that fits into the bottom clamp tube...and size of that hole to :):)

Thanks tho:) :)

yeah i doubt any of the yz clamps would fit, think the diameters of the fork legs would be completely different. would a full yz front end bolt in though?

w00d I know most MX triple clamps won't fit. I said most(not all) because I don't know every bike :P The full front end of the YZ or any other MX bike would be cool but I don't know if they'll fit...

Have any of you put some aftermarket tripleclamps and fronts forks on your Yammy XT600E ?? I've seen a XT600E with new triple clamps and larger front forks.. so I believe it is possible to put a non OEM tripleclamps :) I'm gonna post a picture of it in about half an hour...

Hi.. I just got some new info on this.... You do can put some MX triple clamps and forks on a XT but you'll have to do some homework ;P

First you need to get the triple clamps and the front forks that fit in them..

Then you'll need to make a new axle preferably in steel or work that one out..

And for last some new bearings that would fit in the new axle and on the frame hole...

What I mean with doing some work on the axle is because it WON'T fit on the bike's frame hole unless you make the axle thinner so it'll pass through the hole and matching the bearings...than, with the forks and lower triple clamp in place you'll have to "weld" a tube on the new axle that will fit it AND the top triple clamp so it can tighten the axle..........

I said "weld" but I guess the tube might be "fixed" by a different way or with something different...... :)

One thing I think will be cheaper is not to make a new axle but change the one that's already in the tripple clamps to the desired and usefull way :)

IT will look awesome just like those pictures I've posted above but one thing I must say is that it might "oversteer" to the sides....

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say :)

If anyone asks themselves, the whole triple clamps on that bike are from a KTM 250 but the guy doesn't remember the year of that KTM... and the Triple clamps are from WP (white powers)....:thumbup1:

Have fun! :scooter:

I said:

"weld" but I guess the tube might be "fixed" by a different way or with something different...... :)

One other way is that the axle can be "compressed" into the tube like the cylinder sleeves are put into the cylinders ;P Which BTW, is how the axles are fixed to the lower triple clamps ;P

Have fun riding! :mchappy:
