HI,
Reaching 50000 km 600 xte 98 and nothing else has been changed but oil+ chain..tyres../
As the bike is still running perfectly should I change the timimg belt,oil pump bearing..and so on as I was told by a yamaha mechanics ...just in case...

hi mate, my suggestion would be wait until your rings go, ie, when the bike starts using so much oil you feel the need to do something about it.
generally the rings and piston will wear out before the cam chain needs replacing, so when you have to crack the motor do it all at once, i did mine around 55000kms but i didnt do the clutch plates which i now regret,my advice ..wait till rings go then do it all together....unless you are planning to ride around the world in the mean time.

Hi Phil,Fred,

Thanks for you advice, what a great bike it is...If I understand don't need to worry to much as there will be some kind of warning sign before maintenance is needed.
I will look at the oil comsuption then and might change the ring...so far 500000 with no trouble
