Tenere valves and plugs

all,

just a couple of questions

i'll be doing my valve clearances and the screw has a small square drive on the top rather than a slot, what do you use to hold when doing up the nut, pliers or something easier?

also, the plug sits a long way down and my plug sockets are too short, anyone recomend a suitable one

thanks in advance for any help

hi there i use a 3/8 drive socket with a small extention on it and a ratchet its a fiddaly job but works .its worth blowing any grit or dirt away from the plug area with a airline or a piece of tube, before you remove the plug . if you dont have 3/8 gear a simple box spanner may work ,the origanal yamaha tool my be a box spanner ? . to hold the sq stem on the tappet i used a pair of long nosed pliers its very strong so should not chew up. If the plug is tight , with a cold engine start it up and let it run for a minite then try to remove it ,the alloy head will expand quicker than the steel plug . zigzag:thumbup1:

The original plug spanner in the toolkit works fine for removing the plug on mine. As for the tappet adjuster, I use a very small adjustable spanner.
