Tenere stolen in Edinburgh
 

So after months of blood sweat and tears to build my bike out of a pile of bits and 5 short months of riding it's been stolen. It's a very distinctive 3AJ, white tank and blue plastics that have been repainted black and a black frame so I doubt it'll remain in one piece for long.

If you're buying parts in the next few weeks/months could you keep your eyes open for this one. Cheers.

Thats just sickening mate, made fully worse by the work youve put into the bike.

Keep my eyes open, but like you say, the bastards will probably strip it. Tenere's are not the most common bikes up here anyway, so it's not like it could resurface easily with a new coat of paint.

Might be an idea to post the engine and frame numbers so folks can keep a look out for parts appearing.

Will keep an eye out. My mate had his Funduro nicked from a lock up a couple of weeks ago in Edinburgh. Turned out it was just kids. They found it but it was written off (fixable but not economical to fix).
It might have even been the same little f******s.

I'm in Saltire Suzuki (Dundee Terrace) later today, I'll tell them to keep an eye out. They get a few second hand off-roaders in there.

Caught someone climbing all over my TT660RE outside my flat a while back, trying to find the ignition wires (in the headstock). Kids looking for a joyride.

Thanks guys, I'll get some engine/frame numbers up later. The disk lock had been snapped in half so it wasn't an opportunistic steal.

The engine number is 3AJ034722 and although the frame number should match the frame has been powder coated black so I don't think it'll be visible, but how many black powder coated XT's are out there? Anyway, I'll keep you all posted.

I had the same experience a few years ago so you have my sympathy.

The sense of achievment that comes from riding a bike that you've built from a box of oily parts is something no thieving scum will ever experience or understand. They are beneath contempt.

I'm in West Lothian and will put the word about. Who knows, you might just get lucky.

Recovered!
 

I got the call today that it's been recovered by the police, good news I think. I have no idea what state it is in though - I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the support too, it was heartening.

Hi Alex,

Surely the recovery cost will be covered by the insurance company? I'd try and press them on this as they have dodged a far greater payout if they'd not managed to recover the bike.

Anyway. That's great news, some bikes are just a bit special and it sounds like yours was one of them.
