Which Supermoto wheels XT 600 E

Hi Guys ,

Ive got an 2003 XT 600 E in which i want to use 17 inch road wheels and turn it into a supermoto - stiffen up the front shocks -use an acrerbis front fender and speedo mod .

If anyone has done a supermoto before on here too an XT , any tips or suggestions or things i will need that can help me would be great .

Is there a good place to purchase some budget 17 road wheels any help would be great , hoping to lace the spokes to my factory hubes .

I've done a supermoto conversion on my 96 XT6:

Not the most recent picture, but you get the idea.

I went with a 17x3.5 front and 17x4.25 rear, shod with a 120/70 and 150/70. These were laced onto a spare set of hubs I had. I got them built by Ash's spoked wheels - about $1200 for the rims (SMPro), heavy duty stainless spokes and lacing. A fair bit of money, but lacing does seem like a pretty tricky job, especially since I think the XT's spoke pattern isn't "standard". I got an oversized disc and caliper relocating bracket from EBC for around $425. If you've got the machining skills I think you'd be better off using an early R1 disc and making your own caliper relocating bracket, preferably using a suitable four piston caliper.

Good luck!

Hi caspaflip.
I just do my project and I have put wheels from Suzuki GS500. They are narowest than full supermoto size, but fits and looks good.
Front wheel has same spindle diameter. You need to do some measurements and prepare spacers. It is a 3" wheel and fits good.
Rear has same spindle as well but you need smaller brake disc + spacer and larger sprocket (from Suzuki SV650 - 46 teeth - fits to GS500 carrier) + sprocket spacer. You need prepare 2 wheel spacers as well.

Adamm, do you have the spacer sizes etc to do this wheel swap as im really interested in doing it to mine. Plenty of GS wheels on ebay for not much money.
Any chance of pics of the finished bike with a write up on how it was done?
