Starter "Safetys"?
![]() Ok so Bikes a 1990 XT600E Just had the front end off to dot the fork seals, Easy job. Went to take her out for a spin and nothing on the starter button ![]() What could i of dislodged? I dont think think the side stand safety is wired in. Before I could start her on off the stand. Pressing the kill switch gives an audible click, Also Pulling the clutch in (when in gear) gives an audible click. Any pointers on where too look in the morning? Thanks for reading Pete |

I'd go ahead and check the kickstand kill switch. If it's there, chop it off, strip the wires, and wire them together.
That thing failed me on a 1000 mile weekend, 10 minute roadside fix. If that doesn't do the job then you are beyond my experience.

Sounds like the Starter solenoid is working so either your battery is so flat that it can't turn the motor over or your starter solenoid is U/S.
Choices are kickstart the bike or use a set of jump leads or bump start the bike or short out across the solenoid.

![]() Wired the kick stand safety out. Still nothing. In a moment of blinding wisdom (well i thought it was) i checked the starter button for continuity, Wire had ripped off the end of the button, It was faitly corroded. Any ideas ideas if just the button can ordered? On another qusetion, Are there any fuse`s on the XT, I could`nt find any earlier? Cheers Guys Pete |

You can surely order just the button OEM. I'd try and solder the connection back of you can, but that's just my cheap-skate way of doing things.
There is a fuse behind the battery, as in toward the tail end of the bike. That's the only one I know of. |
