Starter Relays

Looking for a second hand starter relay, not many XT600 ones about, need to buy new at a cost of approx £50

Yamaha seem to have lots of starter relays that look exactly the same, with a main fuse, a spare fuse, and a 4 pin connector

This one on ebay is for a new model Diversion

Also if you look at these pages

there are 5 different Yamaha relays for many different models that look exactly the same.

Which of these if any, will work on an XT600E? (2002 4PT model, current relay looks the same, OEM part no 4JG-81940-00)

Seems silly to me that Yamaha made so many different, but identically looking, relays! Are they wired up differently? Or just built to take a different current to the starter motor?

Thanks

I know when I bought my 03 Xt600 starter relay from the main dealer it was identical to the R6 one, the guy said on the counter they sell loads and fit many other models

I've purchased "Yamaha ATV Raptor 350 YFM350 Starter Relay Solenoid" on ebay, same as the one one the bike, but the positive and negative poles had switched places, otherwise identical.

Got it really cheap too =)

Thanks for the info guys.

Jens, read that you had used a quad one before, was it the poles on the block connector feeding power to the rest of the wiring loom that had reversed, or the high current terminals from battery and to starter motor?

Battery and starter poles, sorry for the confusion

any starter solenoid from any japanese bike that has same voltage and amps will work , so see on your probably something like on the most bike 50a 12v , and thats it

Jens Eskildsen 21 Aug 2012 20:32

Yeah, but its much easier to get one where the wires/connectors are an exact match :D

Yep, I realised I could make just about any relay work, but I'm trying to buy one that's plug and play. Saves cutting wires, changing connectors, figuring out what wires go where. My starter relay looks like this...

and I don't mind the high current poles being the other way that's no real problem, but I want the 4 pin block connector to be the same and be wired up the same.
