Stainless Exhaust for XT600

I have tried looking in loads of places for a complete stainless system for my mates 1986 XT600Z(the one with the big tank and single square headlight)but with no luck. Anyone know who makes a good stainless sytem and where I could find one in the UK.
Thanks
Oz

Try Dave Lambeth

Hi Oz,

I don't know of anyone offering a complete system in stainless, but Motad do stainless down pipes that connect to the original silencer and some aftermarket ones, including the 'stainless' Laser Produro system.

This is the system I have fitted to my 1988 3AJ (twin headlight fairing) Tenere and my girlfriends 1991 XT600E. The Laser Produro system is described as stainless, but the baffles are made of mild steel and will rust away over time.

I think the concensus is that there is a better , totally stainless steel silencer available, possibly a Preditor but I'm not sure.

Dave Lambeth is a good person to obtain these from, do a google search and you should find him and he will be able to advise. When I got our systems in 1999 the got the parts quicly and a little cheaper than M & P, and would have supplied the better silencer if I hadn't been in such a hurry.

CRD do a stainless front pipe to fit XT600s, Arrow do a 'Dakar' stainless silencer. I have both fitted to my 3AJ so will fit earlier models. Both are well made, good quality and no louder than standard set up. Check their websitesfor suppliers.

I have a stainless 'Staintune' muffler fitted to my XT. The baffle is also stainless. They don't do header pipes for the XT though.
They are made here in Australia, so i'm not sure how you would get one over to the UK... Perhaps drop them an e-mail and ask if they have any retailers in the UK??
Even if they don't have any retailers in the UK, your bike shop should be able to call them up and place an order with them.
They are VERY good quality pipes.
Here's their website: Staintune Exhausts

Dan.

EDIT: Just found a dealer in the UK..... Sportouring Bike Accessories

Or you could try to build one of your own if you have the right set of tools... I am going to buid my own. It ain't that hard, you just need to practise your welding and have a machine to bend the pipes and lots of patience. don't forget to take some measures of the diameter of the tubes. a good tipe of stainless steel is the quality 304 :)

Devil do (or did, not sure) a collector and downtubes in stainless.

Kedo seem to do one, although I'm not sure it's stainless, at 139€

316, 304 or 302 are probably the best stainless to use, in that order.

Try these guys stainless steel car and motorcycle exhausts - Home I have a full stainless system on my 2003 XT is great .....looks so much better on the bike than the laser pipe. I looked at all the other systems on offer and decided to go with a road legal full system from predator.

I have a 2003 XT600e I first repalced the end can with an Arrow race can, I found this too loud and so did my local police. I spent a lot of time looking around for a full system in stainless steel, I was about to buy the Laser system but then saw another XT with this setup and thought it didn't look good. So I went for the full stainless (road legal) system from Predator product id PY37 on their website. It looks and sounds great and has a good finish and cost £380. I was thinking of posting a video on youtube so people can get a better look and hear what it sounds like. I am also about to put the old yamaha standard system on ebay will keep you all updated.

Predator exhaust

Hi, can't download photos to the forum because they are too big as I have 10mp camera and when I reduced them they were rubbish! You can view them at Public Album I will post the vid on Youtube later!

My 3 AJ has a full Devil stainless system, which is no louder than standard. Ive not seen them on the website though, don't know if you still get them to be honest.

I do think it's an excellent system though.

I am actually looking to replace my down pipes for my '87 XT600z and have been looking around for cheap options. Motard down pipes are in stainless steel and cost £95 plus VAT.

So I went through to Magnum motors who eventually ordered an original Yamaha one for me (from holland - 2 weeks) and it cost £75 plus VAT and it is stainless steel! Apparently!
