Snorkel in AIr BOx
 

Hi all

Im new here and it seems that I found the right place.

Does anyone have experience with the snorkel removal from the air box prior to the air filter under the seat??
Is it good or bad to remove it??
I notice that my XT 600 2001 improve a lot in regime. Goes faster from one gear to another and goes faster in 10 Kmh ( I think ). The noise improved and is more "turba" .:mad2:

And certainly with the XT/TT/Tenere 600's. The original carb setting is pretty rich. So, when decreasing intake system resistance, by leaving out snorkels and other stuff that is only there to satisfy legislation (noise, emissions), you actually improve combustion, torque and output.

So, you are on the right track.

Do you have any experience in foam filters??
Im looking forward to buy a UNIFILTER with pre and main fiter kit eclusive for XT600 E.
These filters must be impregnated in oil (not much) to glue the dust an improve the air flow to the carbs.
Are these filterts OK or any other brand is better??

yes and no. The XT6E was designed originally for a paper filter, which lets through a lot more air than a foam filter. So, for the same air volume you need a physically much larger foam filter. If you do install the foam filter, you wil probably reverse the benefits of opening up the airbox; you increase resistance. Installing a foam filter is advisable if you ride a lot in dusty environments, if not, and you do not want to change your airbox to fit the larger foam filter, probably best to to keep the paper version.
Other alternative that works is K&N, however, it does not filter very well so the resistance is low and it fits in place of the air filter.

Hi again

Im thinking to use the paper filter in the winter and the foam in the summer. I live in the country side part of Portugal and I have many dirt roads to explore. Im more interested now in the pre filter to prevent sand in the air box and keep the "boost" I have now.

Do not understand exactly what you mean, but if it's adding an additional filter that is certainly not the way to go: it adds resistance.
If you choose not to extensively modify your airbox it is better to stick to the disposable paper filters. They have the highest airflow.
If you go for the oiled foam you'll have to make the carburettor leaner.
