smoking

my 1vj uses oil and i noticed whilst following it one day that it smoked excessivly coasting down hill (in gear, clutch out) is this likely to be piston rings or valves and guides or both? it doesnt seem to smoke excecively at other times.

The coasting down hill (in gear, clutch out)used to be a test for valve guide wear, check compression for rings,
