Simple, Kind of Silly Mrrior Question
 

Hey guys and gals, Ive tried searching, but havent had any luck.

I am just looking for what size of mirrors I need for my 1985 xt600. I have found some 10 mm emgo mirrors for pretty cheap I would like to get, but would like to make sure that the 10mm mirrors would fit!

Hey there!

Well, one of them will fit (the left one)!

The right one won't as Yamaha likes to use a counterclockwise thread on the right mirror which I think is why they say in that item description that, and I quote: "Will not fit Yamaha right side"


But, if the threads on those mirrors are screws that bolt on to the bottom of the mirror, you can always have a screw with that other thread pattern OR you can get the thread machined to fit on to your brake and clutch "axle/screw/pivot" with the exact same size the same way that I've already done to my new mirrors! :cool4:

Short stems
 

I'd be interested to know if anyone has found a simple solution to the problems caused by the short stems on the later, square mirrors. It may just be me but they do need to stick out a bit further for a decent rear view. And I'm a skinny bloke so what must it be like for the XXLs?
Are there stems off another Yam that would fit?

Thanks Bacardi, I did notice that the add said the right one would not fit, I guess I should have asked what the size of the bolt was instead!

Thanks for the info about why the right hand one wont fit too. Seems like a goofball setup, and I can only imagine its going to be a nice pain in the ass to find a few good cheap(like those two ever go together anyways!) mirrors!

No worries about piggy backing this thread either Kent, good question, and I would like to know what other options there are out there as well!

My aftermarket mirrors! I bought these off the german ebay.
They cost me 26euros I think..

It came with the Yamaha threads that you're having problems finding!

I did however buy some screws and had them machined so they fit on the clutch and brake levers pivot so they can fit lower as they were too high for my taste...

Oi, cheeky.

I am far from skinny and have the short square mirrors. I need to tuck my elbow in for a good look behind, but that's all.

I tend to go with the statement that "objects in this mirror no longer matter".

damn.. those picz came out huge... sorry..

I only bought these mirrors because mine were broken and full of scuff/scraps and I want my bike to be totally legal an able to pass the "MOT"...

on the plus side, they look great when fitted, work great, are fully adjustable and weren't expensive at all...

On Monday, I'll try to take some picz of the mirrors mounted in place and hopefully on the painted frame :clap:

I've seen these mirrors on a spares website somewhere. If only I could remember where.......

I think I've also seen them on a website somewhere but also don't remember....

I forgot to mention that these mirrors have the "Yamaha thread" for the mirrors but they also have the normal threads!
It's just some bolts that fit on the lower part of the mirror that have the different threads...
