rikicross headlight gaurd, mounting??

I decided to mount the headlight gaurd that came with an 85' xt600Z I recently purchased. The top bolts on the headlight cowling stick out to far, interfearing with the upper arm of the headlight gaurd. If someone has mounted one of these on their bike, did you have the same trouble? or are there some parts that I'm missing?

I looked at their site already, no instructions only a catoluge, stating that racks come with all necessary hardware.
I was thinking of making a different bushing that will recess a allen head into it, to attach the cowling. should give enough clearance to mount the rack.

Hi
I have the same front headlight guard fitted to my xt, all you need to do is push the headlight mounting bolts and frame in just a little and pull the upper arms a part a little, its a tight fit but it works hope this helps Skip

Thanks skip, sometimes the simple fixes are not your first thoughts.
I was looking at a xt600e and I belive the rack was made to fit it, not the tenere, the cowling mounts are different.

I am searching for a headlight guard with carier for my Yamaha XT600E 2001. Rikycross has the perfect one:

I emailed Riky, but unfortunately the guards are out of production!

Does anyone know other manufacturers or want to sell theirs?

Won on ebay!

The auction on ebay has ended. I won! I am the proud owner of a genuine rikycross headlight guard with luggage mounts. Thanks again for the tip!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
