Replcaement Shock For 3AJ Model

Hi Folks

I am going to replace the rear shock on my 1989 Tenere (3AJ) - can anyone tell me if the shock is the same on the 1990 model or if they are interchangable? - I have the chance of an Ohlins shock but its listed for fitment to 1990 -1995 bikes.

Any help appreciated.

Macky

Works Performance has a web page showing shock lengths for scads of different bikes. Go to www.worksperformance.com and look for their fitment guides. It does not show other specs like shock travel or bolt/pin diameters though.

According to that, the '84 to '89 has an overall length of 15.74" vs. 14.88" for the '90 to '95 XT600 (the last year we got the XT600 in the states). If the shock fits, it will jack up the rear of the bike about 2.5" (62mm).

See also www.ohlins.com for models etc. Or ask them.
