Replacement 3AJ choke plunger?

So I called up Fowlers to order a new choke plunger for my 3AJ Tenere the other day only to be told that this part is no longer available from Yamaha. Does anyone know if there is a suitable substiture, either from another carb or another model of XT600?

I've not had any luck so far but I've not been that dilligent due to an impending house move. I should probably try some breakers, if you've got their numbers that would help. Cheers, Alex

Are you sure your dealers know what their talking about??

Isn't the carburetor of the other XT600 the same as the 3AJ?

maybe they fit?
If you do go to a breaker, you should check it to!

fowlers get a bit confused with the teneres. does your choke have a cable and go to the bars or is it just a plunger? weve got two 1vjs, one with each and i recon theyre interchangable with the 3aj, i think theyre expensive though. ours are 86 models. its best to go in and look at the microfiche rather than phoning.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
