Purchasing an XT600

I need some help on wether or not to buy a '93 XT600. The one I'm looking at right now has some good features (Corbin seat, Acerbis tank, ect) but it has 25000 miles (40,200 km) and no rebuild. I was wondering if this is too high for this bike, or what the life expectancy of an XT600 is? Or would I be better off with a KLR here in America? I'm considering some long distance riding (15,000 miles) and I need a bike that can do it.
Any help on the XT is much appreciated.

'87 XT350

depends on the price and overall condition

is it well maintained or a beater?

and service log?

the KLR is better supported as to parts and service, since the XT600E hasn't been imported here since 1995, but I can get anything I need for it (except racks etc are tough since it wasn't that popular and aftermarket is almost nonexistent in the US.)

get it

be different from the hordes of conforming individualists

I talked to the previous owner and he said he and the owner before him religously changed the oil, and most of the miles were highway.

There is one on Craigslist in Denver for $1400. It looks pretty good with only 5k miles on it. No upgrades but a sweet deal.

I've been thinking about this bike myself, I'm just not sure if I'd prefer to have a XR or KLX instead. How offroad worthy is the XT600?
