Progressive fork springs and stiffer rear spring - Where to buy ??
hey guys and gals

Im looking for some progressive front forks for my Xt600E and a stiffer rear spring..

Id hoped to get them from dave lambeth but I havnt been able to contact him for weeks.

Can anyone recommend somewhere ??

progressive springs and Rear shock
as per my other post, i've been in conatct with : WP Suspension UK - we sell front forks, rear shock absorbers, steering dampers for road and race and offroad motorcycles (WP/Olhin etc....)


They seem very professional and have been dealing with travellers and our particular needs (heavy load/off-road etc) in the past.
I'll provide feedback when they change mines!

hagon-shocks.com make progressive fork springs/oil and rear shocks for most makes of bikes including xt`s, sure they could supply spring for your rear shock. Prices seem reasonable.

Can anyone recommend spring rates for the front and rear set up then ??

3 boxes on the back and my 14 stone fat ass onboard. The front is really soggy and nasty as it is !

Hi, I ordered "progressive" fork springs from Hagon for a 3AJ, but when they came they where dual rate not progressive as marked on the box. Don't know if it'll be the same for your bike.

Its kinda the same thing.. You have "progressivly" tighter winds in the spring near the ends right ??

Have you fitted them yet ? opionions ?

progressive springs
Ted,

I replaced my standard front springs with Hagon progressive springs. I got them online through a company called wemoto. Wemoto Home

They do a load of pattern parts for the XT and are pretty speedy in delivery.

When i took the forks to bits to install the new springs, it has metal spacers installed for the original springs, i cut these in half and used them with the progressive springs. The reason i did that is ive got a 40 litre tank and wanted to make sure they could take the extra weight, when i decide to fill it up to the brim.

They were a real biatch to get in but seem to work fine.

On the rear, i used the standard spring on my last big trip, 12000 ks through West Africa to Ghana, me and a load of luggage, spare tyres water etc. Never had any problems or faults with it.
May look at putting a better spring on the standard shock as ive put on a few pounds since then.

Hi, the Hagon springs I had were like 2 normal springs joined together (if you get what I mean). Like one constant winding and then two thirds the way down changing to another constant winding.

Im deffo going to get a stronger rear spring. Standard is a 480lb per inch and its just although it will "cope" its not going to work how it should so im fitting a 550lb per inch one.

Did you try the springs without the spacers too ?? Does the front end still dive on heavy braking ??

I dont think hagen do but many places do, K-tech being one of them.
A spring should only cost about £50 but it does require a spring compressor to fit it at home otherwise you can send it to K-tech or your local bike shop can do it.. Only takes 10-15 mins if you have the compressor.

So !! With the hagen progressive springs, do yoy still get nose dive when heavy braking ??

With the spacers ive fitted, no theres not much brake dive at all.
