That's bad news, Matt. Good luck with the operation.

Any condition that stops you from riding is serious, in my book.

Thanks mate. It's stopping me doing all sorts of stuff, cycling, hillwalking, even canoeing! So getting the op is good news!

:)

Matt,

I'm truly sorry to hear of your health problems. I too suffer the same kind of problem.:(

I'm a 48 year old worn out plod.

I broke my spine in 3 places a few years ago at work (long story) and ever since then have been almost unable to ride. I can't quite bring myself to outing my beloved steeds (both XT's) because I love them so much. Since 14 years of age I have never been without some kind of bike and it would make me miserable if this changed. These days both bikes get polished more than ridden. My mates laugh at me because they are trail bikes which according to them should be muddy and ridden hard.

I had major surgery to stabilize my spine which only resulted in more problems. The damn surgeon put a long titanium implant (screw) in the wrong place and made matters much worse (impotence and bladder problems). :nono:

Before my injury I had the chance to tour around Africa on a bike so at least I have memories. :funmeteryes:

Recently I have had more work done at Benenden Hospital in Kent and this means I don't have to rely upon the damn awful farce NHS. It's less than £2 a week to join Benenden Healthcare. Why not have a good look online at their site? All my family are now on Benenden. They cover ALL past medical conditions after only 6 months of subscription. I can't speak too highly of Benenden Healthcare. They cover the whole of the UK including Jockland. You can use any private hospital or use Benenden's own excellent facility in Kent.

I wish you well for the future. :thumbup1:

Neil,

Sorry to hear that, mate. That sounds horrendous. Hopefully I'll be sorted in November, but it may be the other hip needs done soon too! 48 is young to have to put up with that. I'm 40, so know how you feel!

Thanks for the tip on Benenden, will look into it.

Blimey, what a bunch of crocks we are on here!

:)
