Pannier rack 1990 xt600e?

Hey. Im in the process of doing up my bike had have been planning on making my own pannier rack for the past 3 months now, but unfortunatly I just never have the time. I was wondering of anyone knows where I can get a rack to fit the 1990 xt600e, or if there is a rack that would need very little tweaking? Thanks alot.

It took me less than a week of afternoons to build the racks for my 1990 XT600E. They're incredibly strong, too, I've dropped the bike really hard going downhill at about 90% grade on pavement, nothing bent. Plus, it saved me about $2000US (more than I paid for the bike!) vs. buying them from Metal Mule.

Hepco and becker

A new kit full costs by price list 700 euro (side+top rack + 2 side boxes). Alu standard model is best on my opinion, hard with no frills.

You can also get something on ebay, sometimes. Here you find a shop that sells them new, is a good page to learn all technical characteristics, product codes etc.

HEPCO & BECKER Koffersatz GOBI oder ALU STANDARD @NEU - eBay Gepäck- Topcase-Träger, Trägersysteme, Koffer Gepäck, Motorrad- Kraftradteile, Auto Motorrad Teile. (Eindtijd 03-mei-08 22:48:30 CEST)

Talking about rack frame, note that there are differences between XT models, XT600E 1990-1994 is the one you have to choose (650467 00 01 origina H & B product code)

About boxes, if you find used boxes,Hepco "alu standard" model (links bigger, right smaller) you r OK.

I bought both used, on ebay, rack about 70Euros, boxes something around 300.

Thats great cheers for the link. I really would like to have a go at building them myself, but like I said I never have any time. I work as a tree surgen and this is a very busy time of the year, I have only just got in and its half past 9, and thats an early finish! Work all summer, then rest all winter! I have been in touch with David Lambeth and hes says he can get a rack for me for £205, Im not looking for pannier boxes, Im going to stick with soft bags. Anyway, thanks and keep the links coming!!!
