oil leaks
Hi ,
My 98 xte 600 55000km leaks oils towards the right side of the cylinder,I changed the gasket but the leaks remains. Now I think it could be a worn small rubber ring that goes onto a pin using to adjust the cylinder when reassembled, as it is also on the right side. Is there anybody that had the same problem before I open the engine again to check. I'd be very happy to hear from you as I need the bike asap. Many thanks ... |

The small rubber ring seals the passageway delivering oil to the camshaft. You say you already changed the gasket it's possible the oil is comming from the clutch side cover gasket, somthimes it hard to tell exactly where the leak is. my bike started leaking here when the threads striped on the oil filter cover bolts, common problem.
